Part 1
Our journey begins with an innocent craving for candy floss, but quickly spirals into a whirlwind of excitement and peril. As the adventurers immerse themselves in the vibrant carnival atmosphere, they stumble upon the infamous ‘Rope Run’ game. What starts as a lighthearted challenge quickly becomes a test of agility and wit, with more than a few tumbles into the dreaded goop!
Ever, the feline adventurer, and William, the rogue with a penchant for mishaps, find themselves repeatedly bested by the slippery ropes. Their trials are met with laughter from their companions, and even a mysterious voice from a puppet adds to the hilarity. But amidst the laughter, a sense of camaraderie and determination emerges, as they finally navigate the treacherous course.
After their gooey ordeal, the group seeks out Everett Mendel at his stall ‘Mendle Mends’. He appears to be a wise and enigmatic human whom offers William and Ever a much-needed clean-up, as he shares tales of his adventuring experience. Everett mentions that in his time as a professional quester, he came across the stories of the ancient city beneath the mines of Khern. His insights spark a curiosity in the party and they begin to make plans for a possible future contract with Everett. William sees Everett’s potential as an ally, but also raises some questions of trust in the origin of his story.
As they contemplate hiring Everett for their upcoming expedition into the mines, the adventurers weigh the cost of safety against the unknown dangers that lie ahead. Conversation turns to darker strategies and the ever-present need for caution in the mines of Khern.
With their sights set on the fortune teller next, the adventurers prepare to uncover what fate has in store. They head for the tent signposted as Madame Tau’s ‘Fortunes and Fables’. Will their fortunes align with their ambitions, or will new challenges arise to test their mettle?
