“The Chase is On”; Part one
Part 1
Welcome to episode seventeen of The Dragon’s Vale.
We join the party whilst they pursue their quarry through the city of Khern. The party had joined forces with Tanner Locke, the anthro-fox investigator from Alderhelm, to scope out the lower rings of Khern in order to find the assailants who robbed the Tin Trove.
As they see the young dwarf speed off they dash away in pursuit. Leaving the immediate vicinity of The Mirth Mill, the party are led into the industrial ring of Khern. They pursue through the shipping and docking area – scrambling over crates and shipping containers, passing cranes and carts, all the while their quarry seems to travel swiftly through this area.
The party came across a shipping area shrouded by the misty lake air. The space is filled with towering industrial generators and every few minutes steam is expelled through vents in the machines. Tanner, Caithe, Ever and Zagreus all gather behind one of these generators and their new fox friend suggests they split up to search the area. With the mist and the darkened shadows, it became difficult to see for everyone except Ever; whom’s feline senses served her well in this environment.
Unfortunately, William became separated from his companions believing he saw some kind of movement in the mists ahead. As he pressed on to investigate, he realised that he was entering a tunnel that travels through the rock and behind the entrance to the mines. Upon crossing the threshold William notices a silhouette of a creature holding a candle in the darkness. As the creature moved towards him, William could see he was face-to-face with a hobgoblin who seemed to mistake him for someone else.
As William tried his best to play a mystery guest part in this clandestine meeting, the hobgoblin became suspicious and began to see the ruse that William had enacted. Flanked by some unknown sources, William caught a strike in just enough time to push back, but now he finds himself against an unknown enemy and all alone.

Your hearts pound in your chest, badum badum.
Sweat drips from skin and mats fur, as you heave your way around the 6th ring. Your lungs burn with lactic acid as you use every fibre of energy to avoid some of the pitfalls in this industrial quarter of Khern – oil spills making the cobbles slick, people emerging from the narrow allies and corners and loose dogs roaming the streets.
The figure you chase knows these streets well, or at least you think they do. Their steps, whilst unlike the lightness of elves’ feet, are sure-footed and spry with youth. You watch them duck around strangers and roll through the dangers of two-wheeled vehicles, all with the confidence of familiarity.
