“Don’t talk, just listen”

In our tenth episode, the group return to The Buttercup Boarding House to see Mrs Buttercup awaiting their return. In Marie’s distress, she has fallen asleep but Mrs Buttercup has taken care of her in the meantime. With Ever Watchful and Caithe looking a little worse for wear, the party heads upstairs to rest for the remaining length of the early morning.

The next day they are awoken from the sounds of voices and laughter coming from the kitchen. The other guests are enjoying a large breakfast in the kitchen, joined by Decker and Mrs Buttercup. As William, Caithe, Ever and Zagreus join everyone, the presence of all the guests together in the kitchen puts William on edge as they try to deliver the news to Marie gently. This makes William nervous and he blurts out the details of the fight in front of Decker. Decker’s anger is swift, but she warns William and Caithe that the vow they took means that no one will come to their aid if they remain silent about what they are going to do. Details about the necromancy ritual are revealed to Decker and she tasks William to keep a close eye on Zagreus and to stop him unveiling the book that was found at the ritual site.

Mrs Buttercup introduces the other guests to the group; learning that the family were the previous owners of the small, burned out shell of a home that the party discovered the day before. The father shares his story with Ever, explaining how his family were attacked by a group of creatures looking for treasures of items of value. He reveals that the hunters were discussing an offering and whose offering would be greatest.

With that, the group decide to leave The Buttercup Boarding House and head north towards the city of Khern.

In the episode…

You awake to a full sun, already risen above the horizon. Your bodies feel stiff from the exertion and tension of the battle with the undead remains of Ella, the deceased sister of the guest who turned up in the early hours of the night before. Arriving back to the Buttercup Boarding House you quickly set straight the events of the night with Mrs Buttercup and took yourselves off to bed for a much welcomed rest.

Now, as you awake to a golden light, the sun in the sky marks the time past 10, and you hear jovial voices coming from downstairs.
