“A Banshee’s Wail”

In our nineth episode, we join the party as they arrive in the graveyard. Following the instincts of both Ever Watchful and Caithe, the group make their way towards the centre of the graveyard looking for clues to what was eminating such a strong undead feeling.

On approach to the centre they see a figure of a female, sobbing by a grave stone. As the light summer rain begins to fall, the party sees the woman wearing a wedding dress and sobbing. Through the sobs they hear the woman ask whether they will help her. Upon William and Caithe’s movement towards her, she turns to face them. In horror, the group look upon the hollowed face of a banshee and are consumed by her wail.

Both Caithe and Ever fall at the hands of the Banshee; both struggle to cling to life as WIlliam and Zagreus try to defend their friends from the cold evil of the undead woman. William’s actions manage to administer a health potion to Caithe, who in turn used her new energy to aid Ever on a whim. With prayers to the Gods, Caithe pours the liquid contained in Ever’s waterskin into her mouth and holds her breath until Ever finally comes to consciousness. During this time, Zagreus draws the ire of the Banshee, defending his friends until eventually the Banshee is defeated.

As the party begin to realise they have stumbled across some kind of necromancy ritual, they also grapple with the fact that they must break the news to Marie that her sister was finally gone. For William and Caithe it appears that they now have a secret to keep from Decker.
